All Things Glittery … Let’s Dream

The holiday season is upon us. Fa la la la la and all that crap. You see, I love the Solstice, which is what I celebrate, but this year more than any before promises to be on the quiet side. I am so focussed on goals for the coming year that I am loathe to take time and money for a really bang up celebration. Not to mention that trip home won’t be happening, so the celebration will be home-centered and low key.

None of this stops a Catty girl from dreaming though, right Kittens? And when I think Holidays, celebrations and parties, I think GLITTER!

We all know that I love a little shimmer in my everyday life. Why keep something great for a special occasion? A little touch of shine makes me smile when I look in the mirror and I think that’s what makeup is about—fun and joy. If it doesn’t make you happy, you shouldn’t be wearing it.

Now, normally I opt for the gorgeous and subtle glittery shimmers so well done by Korean companies. They are perfect for daily wear and command attention in the most discrete way. Far more, “She looks great but I don’t know why,” then, “Why does her face look like a Martha Stewart gold foil experiment?” I do make an exception to this discrete attitude towards glitter when celebrations are involved. Then it’s time to pull out the reserves!

It is important to note that a little glitter can go a long way. Start slowly and add a little more until you are satisfied. I don’t want my Kittens looking a gilded mess!

With no further ado, I will share some of the products that have been taking up space in my sparkly dreams.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liners

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful? I. Want. Them. ALL! There are even more colors than what are shown here. These would be fantastic on their own or with a little over a dark liner close to the lash line. That white one at the end is so versatile! It would be perfect for under the lower lashes for the wide awake, ‘I’m not dying at 5AM’ look. It would also work to give some extra punch to a night look that says ‘pop the champagne, I’m here!’ The brighter colors are a little more, ‘mix up some strong-ass drinks and let’s dance.’ Thankfully, I am adaptable. First rule of party club—prep for classy to trashy club. A little Catty wisdom for you.

Next up is something a little more champagne than malt liquor for those Kittens who just want to dip a toe into the glitter pool. A glitter pool! A whole POOL of GLITTER! Can you think of anything better? OMGOMGOMG … okay, I have to take some deep breaths. That almost pushed me into catatonia.

Ciaté London Mini Paint Pot  – Putting on the Ritz

This is just so damn … pretty, right? It’s baby pink, it’s pretty gold, it’s everything your mother always told you that you could indulge in and still be a good girl. Or at least you can fake it. Who wants to be a good girl, am I right? Not only is the appearance total sweetness and light, but the company is PETA certified as cruelty free, have a wide range of vegan products and are dedicated to sustainability. It’s almost too much. Almost. The pretty tips the scale in its favor and I definitely put this on my ‘dream’ list.

Nails are a great place to start if you want a little glitter but are shy about it. Is shyness a thing? If so, I support it entirely though I don’t really understand it.

The next dream product brings me back to something a little more dramatic A.K.A a little more Catty on a night out.

Too Faced Glitter Bomb – Prismatic Glitter Eye Shadow Palette

Look at the colors. Honestly, look at them! You clearly aren’t listening, because if you had really looked you would be passed out from the assault on your senses. Like fireworks! Color. BAM! Glitter. BAM! A virtual night at a roller rink at your fingertips. DOUBLE BAM! Too Faced knows how to put a palette together and this has to be one of my favorites. Not only are their 8 great colors, but there are also 2 bases—light and dark—so you can play endlessly with the shades. It is absolutely impossible that you would ever get bored with this palette. Ever. Even if you live to be my age of 112.

One final thing, and it is more than just simple glitter. It’s … it’s … well, I can’t describe it so just look.

Huda Beauty Lip Strobe Minis – Winter Solstice Collection

The glitter in these lip glosses is ultra fine and the finish itself has a holographic effect. This has been a huge trend, especially in nails. The four shades are universally beautiful on all skin tones and, come on, has anything ever screamed “Happy New Year’s” more? All I want in my life is these glosses. No wait, all I want in life are these glosses and the other things I mentioned in this post. No WAIT! All I want in life are these glosses, the other things I mentioned in this post, for all of my goals for next year to happen …

… and a partridge in a pear tree.

I hope this helped all of you not to be afraid of a little glitter, especially as we go into a season that is absolutely begging for it.

Until next time, MEOW!

  1. Whats up this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    1. I have no coding experience but very occasionally ran into times when I had to use HTML. There are a lot of How-To YouTube videos for specific things. Good luck!
