Hello Kittens! It’s been a minute. *sigh* I have meant to write a post about about this product for awhile. It is widely available at drugstores, inexpensive and effective. These three facts alone give me tingly feelings! It is the Garnier Micellar Water.
You may recall that I have spoken about another Garnier product in a post—the Garnier sheet masks. I didn’t speak very kindly about them. This Cat is always honest! I think you will find that this review is a little different. I don’t hold a grudge and was thrilled to try another product by this company.
First and most important, what the heck is micellar water anyway? I don’t want to get to technical, mainly because I am not a chemist and there is a high chance that if I start speaking of atoms I will make a mistake. In simple and reductionist terms, micelles are like little cleansing molecules that are oil based. They are suspended in water to provide a one-step, all in one cleanser.
Essentially, water with invisible cleansing bombs that are attracted to dirt and oil. BAM!
Based on this explanation, you would think that all micellar waters are the same. Well, don’t fall for that can of fish! I have tried ones that did not remove makeup easily and required MANY cotton pads and gobs of time that I will never get back. I have tried ones that stung my eyes and cost far more than Garnier.
Great points of the Garnier Micellar Water —
- Great cleanser! Removes all eye makeup and face makeup easily and quickly.
- Not drying. Based on the chemical makeup, it is not a product that will strip your skin of things it needs.
- Not stinky! I used the one for dry and sensitive skin.
- Huge size, which equals great value. No explanation needed because I know my Kittens love a value.
If you are someone who likes a quick easy cleanser, this is great. Especially in the morning, I can be a little lazy. I know, it happens to the best of us though, right? Right? I need some validation here. A quick swipe and I am ready to go on to my next steps.
Ideally, I will do a Korean 2 step cleanse (stay tuned for future posts). This is not the type of product best suited for that. BUT, this is so good for ease of use, non irritation and general cleansing that I have to recommend it. And it would be amazing for travel. Easy cleansing without compromise.
I do not have oily or acne prone skin, but theoretically this format might not be the best if you are prone to those spots we all get sometimes. I will say that there is a specific oily skin format, but you may have to follow up with a GENTLE cleanser suited to your skin type.
Tip — when using the product to remove eye makeup, dampen two cotton pads with the product and hold them on your lids for a few seconds to allow shadows and mascara to dissolve. This will mean much less wiping and tugging at the gentle skin of the eye.
So what is the takeaway from this post? Garnier Micellar Water equals AWESOME! Run, don’t walk, to get some.
Until next time, MEOW!
